Name an event, and the Carl Perkins Civic & Convention Center can fill the bill. A true multipurpose building, the Civic Center offers a main stage and auditorium with seating for 2,200 that is perfect for a symphony orchestra, stage shows, concerts, large meetings and conventions. In addition to fixed balcony seating, the Center offers collapsible risers for floor seating.

In addition, the main floor area can be used for dining or table seating, as well as convention and trade show display space. Available movable partitions can be used to subdivide the lower level into meeting and banquet areas. Additional meeting rooms are available on the mezzanine corridors and at street level.

The Civic Center offers a box office, kitchen and catering facilities, well-appointed restrooms and a large, well-lit parking lot. With a new 4 million dollar renovation the Center can provide complete sound and light systems, tables and table skirts, chairs, lecterns, microphones, booth material, easels, and televisions, VCR's and projection screens.

Built in 1973, the Civic Center has hosted a wide range of cultural, trade and civic events. It is home to the Miss Tennessee Pageant and the Jackson Symphony. Artists who have performed here include Rodney Carrington, Olivia Newton-John, The Temptations, Larry the Cable Guy, Allison Krauss and Ricky Skaggs.

Banquet events have featured appearances by some of the most recognized names in the world, including President George Bush, Margaret Thatcher, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Christian pastor/author Max Lucado.


The Civic Center is located just south of Downtown Jackson, off Highway 45 South. It is within four miles of I-40 and most restaurants, hotels and shopping in the city. It is also a half-mile from the city's Fairgrounds Park.
