Major Thom Corley
Major Thom Corley began his career with the Jackson Police Department in 1990 as a Patrol Officer after serving in the United States Marine Corps. He was assigned as a Narcotics Investigator during the mid-90’s and returned to the Patrol Division upon being promoted. He then served as a Patrol Supervisor and was later named a Patrol Shift Commander. Major Corley has served in many collateral roles for the Jackson Police Department during his tenure, including Defensive Tactics Instructor, Hostage Negotiator and Police Applicant Background Investigator. He obtained the rank of Captain in 2009 and obtained the rank of Major in 2013.
Major Corley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management, as well as a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. He is a licensed attorney and is an active member of the Tennessee Bar.
A member of the Executive Command Staff, Major Corley currently serves as the department’s General Counsel and Legal Advisor and also commands the Professional Standards and Integrity Unit.
