Main Street Studio presents "SYMBIOSIS," a collection of works by six artists who share studio space, offering each other ideas and constructive criticism. The artists are Dana Brooks, Jettte Garner, Karlie Head, Kate Lagaly, Janice Sumler and Elaine Vars.

The Jackson Municipal Regional Planing Commission will meet in the George A. Smith Meeting Room in City Hall, 101 East Main Street, on the first floor at 3:00 p.m.

September 2
The Business After Hours Downtown Block Party will be in front of Moore Studio on Liberty Street between College and Lafayette Streets from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Reservations deadline for Senior Adults Fall Hoe-down Luncheon scheduled for Tuesday, September 14 @ Noon at the Ned R. McWherter West TN Cultural Arts Center.
Get ready for toe tappin' music, a delicious meal and entertainment by Wilted Grass from the Jackson Plectral Society at the Senior Adult Fall How-down Luncheon. This event will be full of surprises. Limited seating for this event. Deadline for reservations is September 6. The luncheon is $14 with a special rate for tables of 8 or more for $12. Call 425-8395 for reservation.

September 7-28
Students ages 8-12 will have the opportunity to complete four complete works of art in four weeks when attending An Adventure In Acrylic Painting September 7-28 at the Ned R. McWherter West TN Cultural Arts Center.
Learn how to mix colors, paint application, composition and other basics of acrylic painting with instructor Dana Brooks. Class fee is $40 for City resident and $70 for non-residents plus a $15 supply fee. Class size is limited. Call 425-8395 for registration.

The monthly City Council Meeting will be Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. in Council Chambers (The George A. Smith Meeting Room) on the first floor of City Hall.

September 9th
"A Tennessee Evening Among Friends honoring Senator Don McLeary," with singer Gary Morris and honorary co-chairs Stella Parton and actor David Keith, will be at The Carl Perkins Civic Center.

The Jackson Area Association of Realtors and Habitat for Humanity will sponsor a golf tournament to benefit the Habitat for Humanity.

The Jackson-Madison County Library is sponsoring its first "One Community, One Book" effort in September.
Thursday, Sept. 16th at Noon Ondra Farmer will lead the discussion. Communities all over the country are participating in citywide book clubs, with the idea of getting you and all your friends to read the same book and then share your thoughts about the book. You may bring a sack lunch. The library will provide beverages.

September 16
The Ned's Season 5 PREMIER GALA featuring JIM BRICKMAN will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by the concert at 7 p.m.

September 18th
The 25th Annual West TN Health Care Health Fair will be Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Carl Perkins Civic Center and is free to everyone.
There will be multiple screenings such as blood pressure, cholesterol, body fat, breast and skin cancer, bone density, blood sugar, vision, and many others. There will also be educational areas with different topics. If you are going for cholesterol or blood sugar, you need to fast from at least midnight the night before.

September 21st
The Union University Scholarship Gala with guest speaker former President George H. W. Bush will be at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

September 23

The NFL-PEPSI PUNT, PASS & KICK CONTEST will be held Saturday, September 25th from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Malesus Park during the Bluegrass & Crafts Festival.
Age divisions are 8-9, 10-11, 12-13-14-15 with males and females competing separately. Local winners advance to competition in Martin, TN in October. The event is free, no cleats allowed.

September 25
The Jackson Symphony No Hassle Classical featuring piano soloist Angela Cheng
will be at the Carl Perkins Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy an Italian feast from Baudo's with pasta, garlic sticks and biscotti. The Golden Circle Opry kicks off its upcoming season with the Annual Bluegrass & Crafts Festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at Malesus Park.
The festival is free and promises a full day of family fun. Bluegrass groups scheduled to perform include Wilted Grass, The Hatchie Bottom Boys, Possum River and more. Children's activities will include a Dandee Jumper, crafts and face painting, and demonstrations of old- time crafts and other artisans. Community groups will provide concessions, so there will be plenty to see, hear, do and eat throughout the day. In case of rain, music and food will move into the South Jackson Community Center.

September 25

Weed/Seed After School Tutoring Starts Monday, Sept. 28th at the Weed/Seed Learning Lab, Weed/Seed Safehaven 96 O'Neal Street.
