City Council Meeting Minutes

CITY COUNCIL CALLED MEETING
JUNE 20, 2000-9:00 A.M.

The Jackson, Tennessee City Council met for a called budget meeting at 9:00 a.m., June 20, 2000, in the George A. Smith Meeting Room at City Hall with Council members John Bannister, Harvey Buchanan, David Cisco, Johnny Lee Dodd, Kenny Holt, and James E. Wolfe, Jr. present. Council members Charles "Pepper" Bray and Jessie Jacox were not present. Also present were Toni Ross and Anita Brooks, recorders of the minutes.

Council member Maurice Hays gave the invocation and led the audience in the pledge of allegiance to the flag.

Mayor Farmer advised that the purpose of the meeting was to examine the 2000-2001 budget.

City Council members asked department heads questions regarding the budget and asked Mayor Farmer about the employee bonus program proposed in the budget.

On the motion of Council member Wolfe, seconded by Council member Holt, the ordinance approving the 2000-2001 and the ordinance setting the property tax rate at $1.98 per $100 assessed budget were unanimously approved on first reading.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
