Street Signs, Street Lights & Traffic Signals
The overall responsibility for the design, placement, operation and maintenance of traffic control devices within the City of Jackson rests with the Engineering Department.
To ensure conformance with standards issued or endorsed by the State and Federal Government, the Federal Highway Administration’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices has been adopted by the City of Jackson as the official manual for traffic control devices. The Jackson Energy Authority (JEA) provides the maintenance of traffic signals, and the Traffic Sign Division of the Engineering Department is responsible for pavement markings and for regulatory, warning and guide signs. Authorizing the location and placement of streetlights is also the responsibility of the Engineering Department.
