Property taxes are the main source of funding for the city's many services and programs such as police and fire protection, codes enforcement, parks, recreation, and public works.

Taxes are due December 31 and will be considered delinquent and subject to penalty and interest charges from January 1 of the following year.

Payments by cash, personal check, money order or credit and debit cards are accepted. Payments may be made online for a 2 ½ percent fee paid by customer for this convenience. To save taxpayer money, the office sends receipts only if requested. If credit or debit cards are used there will be a 2% fee. Only Visa or Mastercard accepted if paid at City Hall.

Current property taxes can be paid by mail to P.O. Box 2508, Jackson, TN 38302-2508, or in person at City Hall.

Delinquent taxes that are more than one year behind must be paid at the Chancery Court Office in the Madison County Courthouse. Previous year's taxes must be paid by October 31st. November 1, they will be in Chancery Court.
