Built in 1973, the Carl Perkins Civic & Convention Center is one of Tennessee's most outstanding facility for cultural, trade and civic events. It is the home of the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant which is the official preliminary to the Miss America Pageant; Jackson-Madison County General Hospital Health Fair; University School of Jackson Holiday Mart and Antique Show; West Tennessee Boat, Sports and RV show; Ballet Arts "The Nutcracker;" JRPD Best Christmas Pageant and many other events.

Its main stage and auditorium is used for symphony orchestra concerts, stage shows, large meetings and conventions seats 2,200. There is fixed balcony seating plus collapsible risers for floor seating. The floor area can serve for dinning or table seating. Movable partitions can subdivide the lower level into meeting and banquet areas. Additional meeting rooms are available on the mezzanine corridors and at street level. The Little Theatre on the south corridor seats 125 and is appropriate for smaller events such as community theatre productions. Sound and light systems including down spots and spotlights, tables, table skirts, chairs, lecterns, microphones, booth material, easels, box office space, television, VCR and projection screen, are available.
