Captain Rick Holt began his career with the Jackson Police Department as a Patrol Officer in December 1990. In September 1995 he was assign to the Criminal Investigation Division as a property crime investigator. Captain Holt was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and placed in charge of the Community Policing Unit in January 1996. He obtained the rank of Lieutenant in February 1999 and reassigned as a Staff Duty Lieutenant. Captain Holt remained in that position until June 2007 when he was assigned to the South Precinct as the First Shift Commander. In July 2013 he was promoted to his current rank of Captain of the South Precinct.
Captain Rick Holt is a native Jacksonian and a veteran of the United State Navy. He is also graduate of Jackson-Central Merry H. S. He received an Associate Science Degree in Engineering in 1982 from Jackson State Community College. He possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Lambuth University. In 2005 he earned a Master of Science Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin. Captain Holt is a proud graduate of the Northwestern University Public Safety School for Police Staff and Command (Class 274).
Captain Rick Holt is the South Precinct Commander and he is in-charge of the School Resource Office Program.
