Captain Tyreece Miller is a native of Jackson. He joined the Jackson Police Department in 1997. A graduate of North Side High School, he immediately joined the United States Marine Corps, receiving an honorable discharge.
Promoted to Captain in July of 2013, Miller serves as Commander of the Criminal Investigation Division. He has served in CID since 2000 when he was assigned to the Metro Narcotics Unit as an Investigator. In 2002, he was reassigned to the Violent Crimes Unit as an Investigator. During his 11 years in VCU, he rose through the ranks, promoted to Sergeant and Lieutenant.
Throughout his career, Capt. Miller has continued his law enforcement training, including graduating Summa Cum Laude from Bethel University with a degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of the Southeastern Command and Leadership Academy, 10th Session at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Capt. Miller is a graduate of Leadership Jackson and is very active in the community by publicly speaking on crime awareness and citizen safety. He is also a member of the Jackson Rotary Club and serves on the Mayor's Youth Gang Prevention Task Force.
Capt. Miller serves on several nonprofit boards such as Hands Up! Preschool, Jackson Arts Council, Jackson Chamber, JACOA, Pathways Behavioral Health Services Advisory Board and the Therapy and Learning Center.
Miller is a lifelong member of Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson.
