Neighborhood Watch:

The Neighborhood Watch program is made up of citizens who take the initiative to help prevent crime in their neighborhoods.  Participants keep an eye out fro their neighbors and their homes by taking not of unusual activity and reporting the proper information to the authorities in the event of a crime.  The Jackson Police also give citizens feedback on how to make their neighborhood undesirable to criminals.

The Neighborhood Watch program is led by the Crime Prevention Unit of the Jackson Police Department.  The Crime Prevention Unit takes a proactive approach to citizen interaction with a wide range of activities.

Start a Neighborhood Watch Group:

To create a neighborhood watch group, call the Jackson Police Department and speak with the Neighborhood Watch coordinator.  The coordinator will take down your information and let you know what needs to be done to organize the neighborhood watch.  You will plan your first meeting with the Jackson Police Department.  During the meeting, the Police Department will review booklets describing how to set up the program in your neighborhood.  Following the meetings, your neighborhood will have Neighborhood Watch signs posted in the area by the City of Jackson.

To be successful, Neighborhood Watch groups should stay active.  Groups are encouraged to call the Jackson Police Department once a year to set up an update meeting.  During this meeting the Jackson Police Department will provide new information and review your past meetings.
