The Jackson Fire Department stands ready to respond to any type of fire or emergency that could occur within the city limits of Jackson. The Department is not only equipped to fight fire, but also employs specialized units to handle hazardous material spills, vehicle extrications, high angle and confined spaces rescues as well as a Public Education Unit. The Fire Department has ten engines and three pieces of aerial equipment fully staffed twenty-four hours a day. Each of these units is housed at one of the city's six strategically located fire stations. The Jackson Fire Department responds to approximately 1600 incidents per year and averages a response time of four minutes.
