Recycling Projects CHIPPING OF THE GREENS Chipping of the Greens is a recycling program for your discarded Christmas trees. Recycling Christmas trees helps save space in landfills, provides free mulch, and reminds the public of our solid-waste management problem. The idea was started in Jackson in 1981. City of Jackson trucks in your district will pick the tree up for chipping by calling 425-CITY or you can bring your tree the day of the chipping and pick up some free mulch. Chipping is usually held at the Old Hickory Mall parking lot the second weekend of January. Sponsors of the event are the Old Hickory Mall and Master Gardeners.
