    Ring Around the School

    Open to all Jackson-Madison County
    Public and Private schools.

The Great America Cleanup involves organized cleanups going from mid-March through mid-June. Many groups from all over Jackson participate by picking up roadside litter and recyclables in their neighborhoods, around their schools or on their streets. Your schools can participate in the Great America Cleanup and celebrate Earth Day by organizing a "Ring Around the School" cleanup for Earth Day.

This is an easy way to clean up your school and participate in Earth Day. We hope everyone will join hands across Madison County to pick up school litter.

Students and teachers form a giant ring, close around the school and move outward to the end of the property while picking up any trash they find. Keep Jackson Beautiful will supply the trash bags. (We will also provide student incentive prizes such as certificates, stickers, pencils, etc.)

    Our Goal is:

    • To have as many schools as possible participate in "the ring"
    • To have major media coverage – the more schools that participate the bigger the message we can send
    • Teach property waste placement
    • Environmental awareness
    • Encourage a sense of community involvement

11 schools out of 24 participated last year.
Let's get more involved this year!
