LIVING TRIBUTE - PLANT A MEMORIAL TREE
Planting a tree is the perfect way to honor someone in your life. Jackson is revamping its memorial tree program. Due to the Tornado Memorial, we had to look at different option for our Tree Memorial site. For a donation of $100 Jackson City Tree Board will hand select a nice tree and plant it in a park in the city of Jackson. The Jackson City Tree Board will provide you with a certificate that designates the location and kind of tree planted. Locations available are North Park, Malesus Park, South Community Center, Bennett Park and Pringles Park. Trees will be planted in the fall and spring to insure survival. You can contact us at 425-8227 to arrange your living tribute.

NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAYNational Public Lands Day is an event that occurs once a year when volunteers come together to improve the country's largest natural resource-our own public lands. Volunteers gather to help improve the public lands they use for recreation, education and enjoyment. Last year nearly 45,000 volunteers help improve public lands.

PLANTERS DOWNTOWN - A service provided to business downtown to help with beautification of the downtown area.

TREE CITY USA

Jackson was established as a Tree City USA in 1986. There are four standards that have to be met to qualify for Tree City USA:

  • Form a volunteer Tree Board
  • A Community Tree Ordinance
  • A Community Forestry Program with an Annual Budget of at least $2 per capita
  • An annual Arbor Day Observation & Proclamation

These standards were established to ensure that the communities would have a viable tree management plan and program.
