Recycling Programs

The Blue Bag Recycling Program allows residents of the City of Jackson the opportunity to separate aluminum, corrugated cardboard, plastic, ferrous metal and newspaper from household garbage.

Bags are provided at no charge at various locations in the city. The bags are then placed in household garbage cans and collected on regular pick up days by Waste Management. The bags are then taken to a private recycling facility located at the Jackson Madison County Landfill where the bags are separated from the other garbage. All marketable recyclables are then sold.
