The procedure for review and approval of a subdivision plat is contained in the Subdivision Regulations of the Jackson Municipal Regional Planning Commission (Planning Commission) and consists of three (3) separate steps, each step with its own specific requirements.
The initial step is the preparation and submission of a Schematic Plat in accordance with the Subdivision Regulations to the City Planning Department for their review, approval, and submission to the Planning Commission for approval.
The second step is the preparation and submission of a detailed Construction Plat in accordance with the
Subdivision Regulations to the City Planning Department, Jackson Energy Authority, E911 District Representative, and the Jackson Madison County Health Department for their respective review and certification. The Engineering Department reviews and certifies the Construction Plat on behalf of the Planning Department.
The third step is the preparation and submission to the Planning Commission of a Final Plat together with the required signed certificates. The Final Plat becomes the instrument to be recorded in the office of the County Register when duly signed by an authorized agent of the Planning Commission.
