AFFIDAVIT REQUIRED FOR HOMEOWNERS TO OBTAIN PERMITS
There has been a problem with homeowners obtaining their own permits under the premise if doing their own electrical, plumbing, gas, and/or mechanical work and then contracting with unlicensed persons to perform said work. Such an arrangement is a violation of the licensing laws of the City of Jackson. In an effort to ensure that the homeowner understands the applicable laws, and to have a statement on file indicating the homeowner is to do the work, any homeowner applying for a homeowners permit, which would otherwise require a license, must submit a notarized affidavit, a blank copy of which may be obtained at our office.
