Biography

As the Donor Management Director of the West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation, Scott works with donors and fund representatives at the Foundation, providing donors with an amazing sense of compassion along with a practical knowledge of charitable giving.

Locally, Scott has led the Lambuth Area Neighborhood Association as president from 2010-2011.  He currently serves on the boards for L.A.N.A., Jackson Downtown Development Corporation, the Greer Campaign, the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, the Salvation Army of West Tennessee, WLJT-DTV Public Television for West Tennessee and Area Relief Ministries where he volunteers for Room in the Inn.  He is a Rotarian, serving as President-Elect and a member of the Membership Committee and Strategic Planning Committee for the Jackson Rotary Club.

In response to the increasing gun violence, Scott founded a local effort called “One Less Gun,” in an initiative to remove weapons from the streets and out of the hands of minors.  Through private donations, 69 guns were turned in, removing the availability of weapons to underage children while replacing each weapon with a gift card. In recognition of his contributions towards the safety of our community, Scott was presented the Angel Award by Grace Broadcasting.

Scott, an Eagle Scout, is also known because of his grandfather’s service as Mayor of Jackson for more than 21 years.  Following his grandfather’s tradition, Scott is a member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge and the Jackson Scottish Rite of Jackson where he serves as president and is a York Rite Mason.  An alumnus of Lane College, Scott was rewarded with the Tradition Award.  He went on to earn his Masters in Business Administration from Bethel University where he served as an Alumni Ambassador for the program.  He was named one of Jackson’s Finest Young Professionals in 2012 and one of The Jackson Sun’s Forty Under 40 for 2014.  He has also been recognized for his community service by New Life Christian Ministries and is a recipient of the William H. Graves Sr. Humanitarian Award.  He was voted Best Local Public Servant in the Jackson Sun’s 2014 Reader’s Choice Awards.

Scott is a member of the Jackson City Council where he represents District 5 of Midtown Jackson. He serves on the Expenditure Committee and is chair of the Taxi Board.  He is member of the Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church where he serves on the Trustee’s Committee, Leadership Team and Evangelism Committee.

An alumnus of Leadership Jackson and WestStar, Scott has a commitment to work to provide an educated workforce throughout West Tennessee.

Scott is married to his wife Nikki Conger, a 1st grade teacher at Denmark Elementary School.  The couple continues to be active in the community in several different ventures.
